SVdP's St. Madeleine Conference in Pomona in NEED of Christmas Toys

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s St. Madeleine Conference in Pomona, which is a group of ‘Vincentian’ volunteers who help enhance the quality of life for the local disadvantaged and working-poor throughout the year, is in GREAT need of new, unwrapped toys for local children of families who already have signed up for assistance.

According to David Rodriguez, president of the Society’s St. Madeleine Conference, toys are needed for 120 children between the ages of 8-12. Financial gifts are also appreciated to purchase the gifts. The deadline for donations is December 19.

Financial gifts – earmarked ‘2011 SVdP Christmas Help’ – can be mailed to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. Madeleine Conference, 931 E. Kingsley Ave., Pomona, CA 91767. Toy donations also can be dropped off at the above address from 9 am to 4:30 pm, Monday thru Friday, and 7:30 am to 5 pm on Sunday until December 19. Info: 909-865-4433.

This Sunday, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul seeks your donations of tax-deductible clothing, household goods, electronics and misc. items - as well as newspapers. Your donations help families and individuals in need!

St. Vincent de Paul donation trucks will be at the below parishes from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. this Sunday, December 11. Feel free to drop off your donations during this time, which is known as Bundle Sunday!

Shopping SVdP Thrift Stores impact lives locally!

St. Vincent de Paul's thrift stores in Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oxnard sell usable donated items, which are picked up free of charge throughout the year to help fund the Society's various local charitable programs.

Approximately 215,000 individuals visited the stores last fiscal year. The value of clothing, furniture and other household donations collected was $2.8 million. Revenue received from sales was more than $3.9 million.

In part, the donations helped shoppers on fixed incomes, assisted more than 2,000 children, women and men in extreme-need through a St. Vincent de Paul supported free-distribution program and sustained jobs for 140 employees in tough economic times.
