Jouni’s Kitchen & SVdP's St. Joseph Conference serve 14th Annual Community Thanksgiving Day Meal

Jouni’s Kitchen of San Bernardino and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s St. Joseph Conference in Pomona served their 14th annual Community Thanksgiving Day meal last Thursday.

Henry Cabrera, president of the Society’s St. Joseph Conference, a group of ‘Vincentian’ volunteers who help improve the lives of local children and families throughout the year, said 600 meals were enjoyed. Children from St. Joseph's School served the meals to the diners, while others drew special Thanksgiving place mats.

Jouni, a parishioner at St. Joseph Church and a member of St. Joseph’s American Arab Catholic Community (AACC), donated and cooked - with the help of volunteers - the hot delicious holiday meal. AACC and the Knights of Columbus, Council 877, also assisted with the feast.

Children from St. Joseph's School served the meals to the diners. Entertainment was provided by the Folorico Dancers, Western Connection Dance, Miguel & Brothers and Carlos & Isabel.

Individuals also received new blankets as they entered the hall.

Jouni’s Catering & SVdP’s St. Joseph Conference to serve 14th Annual Thanksgiving Day Meal

Jouni’s Catering of Upland and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s St. Joseph Conference in Pomona invite the public to attend their 14th annual FREE Community Thanksgiving Day meal from 11 am to 2 pm, Thursday, November 24 at St. Joseph Church, 1150 W. Holt Avenue, Pomona.

Henry Cabrera, president of the Society’s St. Joseph Conference, a group of ‘Vincentian’ volunteers who help improve the lives of local children and families throughout the year, expects to serve 600 meals on Thanksgiving – a slight increase from last year.

Jouni, a parishioner at St. Joseph Church and a member of St. Joseph’s American Arab Catholic Community (AACC) said that he enjoys Thanksgiving because it allows he and his family to share this day with others. AACC and the Knights of Columbus, Council 877, will also assist with the feast.

Society partners with Letter Carriers' Food Drive

The Society's St. Joseph Conference in Pomona received nearly 3,600 pounds of non-perishable food recently through the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

This annual campaign allows families along postal routes to leave bags of non-perishable food near their mailboxes on a specific day to help the hungry in their communities. Letter carriers then pick up the bags when they deliver the mail.

Henry Cabrera, president of the Society's St. Joseph Conference, thanks everyone who participated in this wonderful program, especially the U.S. Postal Service for organizing the event.
