Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

DJ Skeet Skeet, born Trevor McFedries, is an LA-based DJ, producer and director who likes to surprise his out-of-town guests by taking them to Society of St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store, a vintage emporium in Lincoln Heights where Skeeter (as he's also known) finds vintage synthesizers. He's on the hunt for more...and he wants your help.

"I like old stuff. I also like digging for gems through endless piles of stuff. While Eastsiders may be familiar with Society of St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store, I like to surprise my Westside friends and DJs/bands from out of town with a trip to this 'lil spot. They always have crazy artwork, random vinyl and great furniture and you can also find all kinds of keyboards, electronics and doodads. I first ended up there with my best friend, Eagle Rock resident and Eastsider4lyfe Rony Alwin (aka Rony's Photobooth). We ventured over and I procured a Soulja Boy "Crank Dat" tall tee and a vintage synth and I knew this was my dream thrift store. There are some lovely restaurants in the area and some skate spots you'll recognize if you're into that kind of thing. And if you see synths when you go send me a Tweet so I can hurry down and check 'em out."

SVdP participates in 8th Annual Lincoln Heights Christmas Parade

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul's Council of Los Angeles participated in the 8th Annual Lincoln Heights Christmas Parade yesterday.

Traveling west down Broadway in one of the historic sections of Los Angeles, Society President Claire Padama and Executive Director David Fields waved to the crowd from a blue Mustang convertible. St. Vincent de Paul's new Traveling Boutique was also decorated and followed the convertible in the parade.

Society participants included Salvador Salgado (banner carrier), Patricia Guerrero & Stephanie Amesola (both passed out magnets & candy), Jesse Clemente (drove the convertible) and Sam Urive (drove the fashion van).
