The Society's deputy executive director David Garcia visited Saint Raphael's Conference in Goleta, California, August 27, 2013. Garcia chatted with conference president Lucille Aubrey and her husband Donald, the former Santa Barbara district president of the Society, and the first president of Saint Raphael's Conference. St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Goleta has had a Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Council of Los Angeles conference of charity since 2001, when the Aubreys founded it.
"We mostly do home visits," said Don. "We are fortunate to have a beautiful office given us by the parish," said Lucille, "where we meet with many of our 'clients'." Garcia and the Aubreys visited the Rotary Club of Goleta meeting at the Glen Annie Golf Course that evening where Garcia and the Aubreys spoke to an estimated 30 Rotarians on the good works of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Goleta, and how the Rotarians could possibly become involved in assisting San Raphael conference.
