Letter to Ron Mulvihill moves people to tears
As reported recently on this blog, Ron Mulvihill, president of the Council's South San Fernando District, received the 'Hero Award' from Housing Works due to his outreach through the Society and collaboration he helped build between both non-profits in getting families off the streets and into affordable housing.
Prior to receiving his award, a letter was read that was sent to Ron from a family he helped. This letter moved the people in attendance, some to tears, including Ron, himself. We would now like to share that letter with you...
We wish, for every person sitting in that room tonight seeing you receive an honor so richly deserved, that they might find one person in their lives that touches them as deeply as knowing you for the past five years has touched us.
You have shown two broken women such gentle compassion without ever judging our missteps. You've made such a real difference in our lives by trying to insure that, after two periods of homelessness lasting nearly three years each, we never again will have to face another day without a place to call home.
Ron, you are the younger brother we always wished we had, but far wiser than either of us will ever be. Feeling special in your eyes, knowing we are special in God's eyes, we are looking forward to a brighter tomorrow.
Hold this night in your heart forever, sweet prince. You will always be our hero.
Deborah and Bonnie
