"Your steadiness of conduct will never injure
you, even in the minds of those who act
differently from you, for all will respect and esteem you more for
persevering in what you know to be your duty." - St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
“El mantenerte firme en tu conducta nunca será contraproducente, aun en las mentes de aquellos
que actúan de manera diferente a ti, pues así todos te
respetarán y estimaran más por perseverar en lo que sabes que es tu trabajo.” -Santa Isabel Ana Seton

Help me, Lord, to remain at peace when I have done all  I can do in a situation, knowing that you are always ready to support me.
Ayúdame, Señor, a permanecer en paz cuando he hecho  todo lo que puedo en alguna situación, Sabiendo que tu siempre estás listo para apoyarme.

Marie Kondo tells us to ditch joyless items but where are we sending them? The rise of the de-cluttering icon, Ikea’s “peak stuff” comments – we have an overconsumption problem but simply chucking things out won’t solve it
Earlier this year, Ikea’s head of sustainability said at a Guardian Sustainable Business event that consumers in the developed world had reached “peak stuff”. The success of Japanese de-cluttering icon and best-selling author Marie Kondo suggests he’s not the only one who thinks so.  The praise and enthusiasm for the KonMari method, which is Kondo’s approach of only keeping items that “spark joy”, signal that attitudes in an increasingly disposable world are shifting. On Instagram and Twitter her devotees post pictures of the clothes and items they’re getting rid of, often with glowing endorsements of her method’s effects on wellbeing. However, its popularity also raises important sustainability questions. Where are we sending all these joyless garments once we’re done …

Lord, sometimes my days are so hectic. I need your guidance in my decision-making so that what I do is really necessary for your glory and not my own.
Señor, a veces mis días son tan estresantes.  Necesito tu guía para tomar decisiones y para que lo que yo hago sea realmente necesario para gloria tuya y no mía.

Rotter Family
St. Louis residents Lou and Marianne Rotter donated Rams apparel to a Los Angeles nonprofit after the football team's relocation. The two jerseys will be featured in a silent auction to benefit the homeless beginning Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016.
A Los Angeles nonprofit is holding a silent auction beginning Thursday in hopes of raising money for the poor and homeless. The silent auction features two Rams football team jerseys donated by a couple from St. Louis. Rams' 'Hard Knocks' Documentary Premieres Tuesday When St. Louis resident Lou Rotter heard his home team was returning and relocating to Los Angeles, he was shocked. Rather than sell or burn his team apparel, Rotter and his wife Marianne decided to donate it to St. Vincent de Paul in LA. …

Zero Waste Guy: Earth Overshoot Day 2016

Image
Zero Waste Guy: Earth Overshoot Day 2016:

August 8, 2016, is internationally known as Ecological Debt or Earth Overshoot Day. What this means is, as of today we have used as much from nature as our planet can renew in this entire year.  Today is the 221st day of the year out of 366 days (this is a leap year), so we are only 60% of the way through 2016, but have used up all the naturally renewing resources. From tomorrow through the end of the year, we will be in an environmental “debt.” Think of this as borrowed time or a borrowed resource. An example would be taking out a mortgage to buy a home. Since you don’t have enough money to buy the whole house outright today, you take on debt in the form of a loan that will take 30 years to pay off. The hope though, is that in addition to having a stable place to live for a large chunk of your life you will also have a resource (your home) that has appreciated in value.
Unfortunately,
the debt we are going into with our planet is not something…
