Los Angeles, May 29, 2014 – Underserved kids who have lost everything gain a week of happiness at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Circle V Ranch Camp each summer.  The society is a Catholic charity assisting the needy of every race, religion and gender. The May 29, 2014 Mardi Gras in May Benefit Dinner & Awards Ceremony at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los Angeles raised funds to send 1,200 children to camp this summer and honored Bishop Gordon D. Bennett, S.J.; Deborah Estes; the Polenzani Family and Shoe Palace.

Most Rev. Gordon D. Bennett, S.J., D.D., is a member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and a Roman Catholic Bishop with extensive experience in educational administration, cultural diversity, church leadership and Ignition spirituality and formation.

Deborah A. Estes is chair and president of Specialty Family Foundation.  The foundation seeks to alleviate the conditions that lead to persistent poverty, primarily expanding educational opportunities in low-income communities and treatment for substance abuse and alcoholism.

Tom Polenzani, founder of Polenzani Benefits; and Elizabeth Polenzani, Professor Emeritus at Pasadena City College, live lives guided by service to their community.  Through their actions they have passed a passion for service to their children: Jennifer, Tom, Michael and Kathleen.

Shoe Palace is one of the most trusted athletic footwear and apparel retail chains in the United States.  What began as a small family business has grown into a popular chain of stores and an online retail site.  Shoe Palace believes that doing good to their communities is good business.
