New year, but needs remain great!
The calendar may read 2011, but the needs of children, women and men remain great when it comes to assistance with food, household items, utilities, rent and mortgages!
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul's Council of Los Angeles and its more than 2,000 'Vincentian' volunteers serve the counties of L.A., Ventura and Santa Barbara. This past holiday season, close to 250,000 individuals were helped; the largest amount ever for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Despite a slightly improved economy, the Society expects requests for help to continue to rise, especially from working-poor families whose finances can't cover their daily basic needs.
Please help us help others! Tax-deductible usable donations of clothing, furniture, appliances, books, bric-a-brac and vehicles (running or not) can be picked up for FREE by calling 800-974-3571. Financial gifts (also tax-deductible) also are welcomed. They can be mailed to SVdP, 210 N. Avenue 21, Los Angeles, CA 90031. Please earmark your check '2011 Donation Needs.'
